My journey with the Upper Room began in August of 2022 when the Director, Gabby, still lived and worked in Colorado. I had moved to Colorado from a different state when my life imploded. Addicted to all other types of drugs, pregnant and alone, I was running for my life. Once in Colorado, Gabby was part of the advocacy team to get me to safety.

I began my healing journey by entering a local detox and saw for the first time that someone cared for me without even knowing who I was. This was a new feeling for me. The people in my life either controlled me or made me feel worthless. Through God’s grace and the unending support from Gabby and the teams set in place, I can now say that I have begun healing in the ways God has wanted me to.

I have graduated from school, have a job, and continue to reconcile my family relationships with my family. My walk with God is more substantial, and I believe my children will grow up with the strength and love I never had.
